The four on Memorial Day morning! A beautiful bouquet of LIFE and LOVE! It fills my inmost being with JOY! How excited was I to get a call from Ruth to come over and try to get some of the expanded precious family!
More rain coming to us overnight... the new plants that are planted in our garden look refreshed and ready to take root and grow in the warmth and the sunlight that we are to have now! I am looking out at a clear freshly washed blue sky from the window and listening to the birds chirp as they clean their damp feathers drying them in the early morning sun! So wondrous to have yesterday Pentecost! And now this weekend devoted to the memory of our dead - Memorial weekend! With all the rain we have been getting after a long drought... these words of Pope Benedict XVI in the meditation yesterday are amazing...
"The Spirit is God's gift (John 4:10) and the internal spring (John 4: 14), who truly satisfies our deepest thirst and leads us to the Father. From this observation Augustine concludes that God sharing himself with us as gift is the Holy Spirit... Again we catch a glimpse of the Trinity at work: The Holy Spirit is God eternally giving himself; like a neverending spring he pours forth nothing less than himself.... We begin to understand why the quest for novelty leaves us unsatisfied and wanting. Are we not looking for an eternal gift? The spring that will never run dry?...
Inspired by the insights of St Augustine: let unifying love be your measure, abiding love your challange; self-giving love your mission!"
We rejoice! We will have apples this year! Now back from a family breakfast made complete with morning prayer shared, and then the joy of doing a photo shoot for Ruth and family... my most favorite thing in the whole world to do. I did get a bit stressed now with 4 children to try to capture together, but Rose was perfect for the most part... while the other 3 were more challanging! Still it was a wonderful way to spend some time out enjoying the breezy sunny morning, and the tremendous flourecent GREEN that has filled the world after the bountiful rains we have enjoyed!
In this one little Rose looks to be angelic while mom and dad seem to be in prayer asking for the Lord to allow them to have all of their family become a picture perfect group. Rose is definitely ready to answer their prayers! These will be wondrous memories of the sundrenched and rainwashed Memorial day 2012... time to add David to the picture and see what we can get!
So precious! Yes,as an answer to their prayer! The world so very lush and green!
Rose looks to be a precious flower unfolding in the warmth of their love and care for her! So wonderful - our inmost being is filled with her adding love to our lives!
Sometimes the rest were cropped out to allow the good ones to shine! The dappled green backdrop could not be more spectacular!
Teaching Rose to smile for the camera.. with picture perfect mom and dad.
Too much fun for grandma with the beauty of the world and family!
Wow! Thank you, Lord, for the joy of trying to capture the wonderful life we are blessed with on this day of memory - we make memories to have and to hold in our inmost being - we are filled with gratitude and thanksgiving for all the wonders of family, faith and farm! Life is a gift and watching the seeds planted grow is a reminder of how you care for us and plant that seed of faith within our inmost being to bear fruit 100 fold!
The bounty of your amazing world and how it all works according to your plan! We are filled with wonder as we "see" them grow and develope as you provide us with the rain and the sun, and the toil of the farmers to care for the crops and feed the world. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Halleluia
"Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "For men it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God." Mark 10: 17-27
The Gospel for today about the rich man... we see the poor of Guatemala so close to God as we grieve the loss of Fr Schaffer!
