"On a hot day in Church.. I sat up close to the fan as it gave a breath of breeze as it turned back and forth... I looked up at Jesus enthroned on the altar... Peace filled me and joy and wonder and delight to have this sacred time alone with my God and Savior Jesus Christ! The rosary beads pass through my fingers as I lift up each of my children, husband, all our prayer warriors - the Crown of Thorns mystery, and our 5 Godchildren... The litany of our family is so powerful as there are many and the needs are the Lord's to know and meet. I trust in You, Jesus! The chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3p is very powerful for all those that are dying or have no one to pray for them... as that is the sacred time of the death of Jesus on the cross! What an amazing gift!
Looking out the front picture window this morning... three cow calf pairs graze in the sunlight and two robins share the moment... the sky is covered with gauzey lacy clouds with holes in them... After the hot humid day yesteday with the puffy clouds here and there... we had some rain last night... getting our garden weeded in the nick of time in the sweltering heat last night til dark...Now a new freshness is in the air, and the morning prayer readings speaking of the Light of the Son... so wonderful after the rains in our lives!
Today's Gospel - "Every good tree bears good fruit... So by their fruits you will know them." Matthew 7:15-20 St Catherine of Siena (1380) writes..." O Boundless love, Gentlest Jesus! How could anyone not be softened and melted by you? Oh, welcome engrafting, incarnate Word, Son of God, you drove out the worm of Adam's ancient sin. You got rid of its wild fruit - for sin had made our garden so wild that it could produce no life-giving fruit of virtue. Oh sweet fire of love, you so engrafted and bound God into humanity and humanity into God that the sterile fruit that had dealt us death became sound and productive. And so it will always give us life so long as we are willing to make use of the power of reason."
"Look at the sweetness of the tender fruit, the spotless Lamb, the seed sown in Mary as in a lovely field...."
On the way to town yesterday... peaceful farm scenes along the road to town... We are blessed to have the beauty of nature surrounding us and lifting our thoughts to you, O Lord our God! Now to church and to kneel before you... the Creator of the world and all its' splendor!
"I beg you in Christ gentle Jesus to lift your love, your affection, your desire up high. Take hold of the tree of the most holy cross and let it be planted in the garden of your soul, because this is a tree laden with fruits, the true solid virtues... He wills, he insists that we too join ourselves to this sweet tree (the cross) in love and desire. Then our garden cannot help producing sweet and tender fruit." St Catherine of Siena
This morning out with the 3 grandkids...looking at the world through their eyes... Life is amazing and beautiful... yes, even those hard crosses that come with life and our journey following the Lamb of God!
May we ever embrace that tree that gives us the good fruit - the cross!
Jesus we trust in You! May we follow you wherever you may lead us... If the door opens may we willingly pass through it always carrying your lamp lit... so the our light will shine for all to see. Amen and Halleluia! Bless-bless, Barb
The radiant heat of yesterday gave the impression of a "cloud of glory" glowing in the presence of HIM!
How I love my rose bush by the side door going into church... I tried to capture the clouds behind them... They are so tied into Our Lady of Guadelupe and ST Therese of Lissuex - both sent roses as a symbol of the miracles that the Lord works through their intercession and examples!
4 year old granddaughter, Mary, had to go and say Hi to her Mary... she is very familiar and comfortable and familiar with her...
The scene last night as we finished up the garden in the sweltering heat... the moon and clouds were pretty!
