Push me- pull me

If any of you have seen Dr Dolittle... you will remember the push me- pull me lama type animal that had a head on each end of it's body... Well, this day of working with the fair calves was our version.... John being too young to show yet was recruited to help with the "walking" of the calf... he doesn't have the strength to pull the stubborn calf, who probably hears her mother mooing at her from behind the fence... The resulting job for the kids is a challange as John pulls on the halter with all his might and Nancy gives a push from behind. Many summer days spent working on our 4H projects... by far the beef project was most demamding. Today the kids are enriched by the time spent with the cows and the calves...there are stilll many with names as they were special ones that were shown and some have gone down in infamy as being stubborn or too tame... when they are too tame... they have no fear of us... much like Curly Girl that took me up to the wall in the barn this winter. They are big and when they know that you are nothing to fear... that can be a challanging situation. No one has been hurt... maybe just our pride... and a few toes stepped on over the years!
