Feast day of St Catherine of Siena - April 29,2010 - Patron Saint of the Community of the Lamb

St Catherine was born in 1347... At a young age she entered the third order of ST Dominic. "On fire for the love of God and neighbor, she established peace and concord between cities, vigorously fought for the rights and freedom of the Roman pontiff, and promoted the renewal of religious life. She died in 1380. She is a doctor of the Church." Little Sister Marie, who started the community of the Lamb, is a Dominican and she too was called during Vatican II to go back to the original roots of the Dominicans and renew her community - in doing that the Community of the Lamb was born! Encouraged by her superiors to take what the Lord was telling her through prayer and study and begin her new Community. Here Little Sister Hallel presents incense rising as our prayers to her loving Lord and the Saints of their community. They spend times throughout the day in prayer - last night being the vigil of this special patron saint, and such an amazing one... they had a vigil of prayer that went late into the night... celebrating and deeply studying the Word of God and the Church Fathers including the Doctor of the Church - St Catherine of Siena! She wrote: " We are all constant martyrs for you and make each and all following your voice each pick up his cross following you above all..."
