Rubber boots lined up by the door...

On my way out the door last evening after a wonderful family time with my daughter, Ruth and her precious family... I saw this heartwarming sight... the very important rubber boots... especially at these times where it was raining and then the days after when the puddles are well fed! The middle size boots belong to Mary, who just turned 4 a few weeks ago... from as soon as she could walk and the weather turned nice - she and grandma would go out looking for mud puddles as we did once again just a few days ago! On hot days just as she started to walk... it wouldn't be too long and she would have fallen numerous times...Soon the clothes would be off and soon she would be in the big barrel of sun warmed water that had been filled to water the fair calves... no the fair calves weren't around at that time, but Mary wouldn't have minded because she loves them too... One of her first words was... "calvie"... The boots are necessary for more than just the mud on the farm... the times that we would go out to the calving barn or to help watch gates... there are many reasons out there to have some nice rubber boots on that can be washed off at the hydrant close to the house...Once you turn on the hose by the house for that job with the kids... that also turns into so much fun watching the water run or splashing a sibling! All the fun and wonderful memories that these line of rubber boots represent... My own kids had more mixed and matched ones but they were important and were carefully handed down one to the next... Funny to think that the smallest ones that Davey is now wearing were the first ones that Simon wore... When Therese was here for a visit Ruth pulled out a smaller pair yet... so then there were 4 pairs in a row and 4 pairs on small feet running around the farm yard finding small things to entertain and fill them with happiness as well as their ever loving grandma... Filled with joy and thanksgiving at the wonderful life I have been blessed with! Thank you Lord! I don't tell you that enough and if I said it with every breath it wouldn't nearly be enough!
